Del Potro returns to the circuit in Buenos Aires almost three years later

MADRID, 1 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Argentine tennis player Juan Martín del Potro will return to the ATP circuit, where he has not competed since June 2019, in the Buenos Aires and Rio tournaments, the organizers have confirmed.

The one from Tandil, 33 years old and now number 757 in the world, will return to the track in the main draw of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, which will be played from Monday, February 7. In addition, he will participate for the first time in the ATP 500 in Rio from Monday, February 14.

Del Potro, who became number three in the ATP ranking, has not competed since June 2019 due to knee problems that have forced him to undergo surgery four times.

“For us it is a great joy to know that we will see Juan Martín again on a tennis court. That it be at the Argentina Open is a very nice satisfaction and it will be spectacular for all tennis fans who long to see him. Juan Martín is the figure that crowns a list that has big names, like Casper Ruud, Diego Schwartzman and Dominic Thiem. It’s going to be a great tournament,” explained Martín Jaite, director of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires.
