De Miñaur asks to be allowed to train after breaking the rules

Alex de Miñaur passes the confinement in Alicante, his habitual residence where he is trained by the Spanish Adolfo Gutiérrez and who still remains in phase 0 of de-escalation in the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Marca newspaper, the Australian asked the Higher Sports Council, through the Spanish Tennis Federation, for a special permit to train as a High Level Athlete, since in some territories it is not yet allowed to play on club, academy or public or private facilities or outdoors.

The fact is De Miñaur broke the rules at least once, on May 4 when he played on the Tommy Arena court of the 40 Tennis Club (15, in Muchamiel, which theoretically remains totally closed. The 21-year-old and 26th tennis player in the world published a post on his Instagram account where he was seen to cheat on his first drive hit.

It is possible that this was a problem of lack of information or confusion about the regulations, as happened with Novak Djokovic When he trained at the Puente Romano Tennis Club in Marbella, he later issued a statement apologizing for the mistake of having allowed the Serbian to play there.
