MADRID, 23 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong injured his ankle this Saturday, during the match against RC Celta, and is out indefinitely, as announced by the Barça team.
“The tests carried out tonight have shown that the first team player De Jong suffers an injury to the distal tibioperoneal syndesmosis of the right ankle. It is low and its evolution will determine his availability,” says the medical statement.
The Dutchman was injured during the first half of the duel against Vigo and was replaced in the 36th minute by Gavi. De Jong was being a fundamental piece in Xavi Hernández’s midfield and his loss points to several games.
Barça will compete in the next two weeks in Mallorca, Seville, Porto and Granada, with the Clásico against Real Madrid within a month, on October 28 at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
