The Biscayan Ricardo From Burgos Bengoetxea has been the referee chosen by the Technical Committee of Referees to direct the round of 16 knockout of the Copa del Rey between Real Betis and the Sevilla FC, which will be played in a single match this coming Saturday, January 15, starting at 9:30 p.m. at the Benito Villamarín stadium, as reported by Cadena Ser on Tuesday.
The appointment is not yet official since De Burgos Bengoetxea is summoned to be present this coming weekend in Abu Dhabi to participate, as a VAR referee, in a workshop organized by FIFA between January 17 and 21 for referees European internationals for the next World Cup in Qatar 2022.
From Burgos it was the referee that Valladolid – Betis whistled last Wednesday, January 5, in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey in Zorrilla, a match that the Verdiblancos won 0-3. De Burgos also refereed the match that the Betis beat Rayo Vallecano 3-2 at the Benito Villamarín stadium on October 24, on the 10th day of LaLiga.
Two games have also been directed to Sevilla this season, both in the League and ended with a 0-1 victory in Vigo against Celta and a 2-1 victory against Atlético de Madrid at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
The derby that Real Betis and Sevilla FC will play this Saturday will be broadcast openly on Telecinco from 9:30 p.m. from Benito Villamarín.
