De Bruyne relapses and will be out for several weeks

MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester City’s Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne had to withdraw injured on Friday on his return to play from his Champions League final injury, after a relapse of his hamstring problem at the start of the Premier League.

“It’s the hamstring again. The same place. I don’t know how long he will be out, it depends on the magnitude of the injury but he will be out for a few weeks,” said his coach Pep Guardiola, after the 0-3 loss against Burnley .

De Bruyne entered the eleven with which City began its defense of the Premier title, his first game since he was injured in the Champions League final that he was at least able to celebrate, and he was injured midway through the first half having to leave the field of game.

“He is annoyed because he has worked a lot. He was fine and the idea was for him to play 45 minutes. Perhaps it was a mistake, when someone is injured after 20 minutes it means that something was not right. We will have to talk, with him and the doctors, but he will return, he needs to free his mind, he has done it before,” Guardiola added.
