MADRID, 13 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Czech sprinter Daniel Babor, 22 years old, 1.80 meters and 80 kilos, will run in the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in the next season of 2023, as announced by the Spanish team in a statement.
Babor has achieved its three main victories in the Turul Romaniei, two of them this year. Earlier this year he also won the opening stage of the French Tour du Loir et Cher, and last year he was crowned Czech Under-23 champion.
Like his compatriot Michal Schlegel, he comes from Continental Elkov-Kasper in his country. He also combines the road with the track, a discipline in which he won the junior scratch titles in both the World Championships and the European Championships in 2017.
Daniel Babor stated that he has chosen Caja Rural-Seguros RGA because it seems to him the “perfect place” to grow. “Besides, they already have a Czech runner. When they gave me the opportunity to become a professional there was only one possible answer: yes. My goal is to become the fastest man in the peloton, a true sprinter and also I always fulfill the tasks that my team commands me. In short, to help in everything I can, whether in search of my victory or that of any of my teammates”, he indicated.
Babor has set himself the goal in 2023 to show ‘who he is’ and what he can do. “I don’t set any race in particular, I love to compete and I always want to win, I don’t care if it’s a big race or a small one. I can’t wait to start,” he said.
Babor becomes the fourth addition to Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for the coming season after those of Abel Balderstone, Mulu Kinfe Hailemichael and Joseba López, all of them from the subsidiary Caja Rural-Alea, and the second Czech on the staff along with Michal Schlegel.
