Cubo Gym Madrid starts its second season with 28 new spaces to train

MADRID, 1 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The open-air sports initiative of the Madrid City Council Cubo Gym Madrid will start its second season with 28 new spaces to train, which will be divided into 25 permanent ones in sports centers and three itinerant ones in the capital.

This Monday the three itinerant cubes will begin their activity, which will be located in the park of El Retiro, Madrid Río and El Cañaveral, which will be joined in September by 12 cubes that will be fixed in municipal sports centers. For the first months of autumn it is expected that the remaining 13 will be there.

The Delegate Councilor for Sports of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda, explained that this is a measure that reinforces one of the axes of her policy “such as the promotion of healthy physical exercise outdoors”.

Miranda spoke of the importance that “outdoor sports practice has had during the COVID-19 pandemic” and in subsequent years. “With the expansion of this activity we continue to bring sport closer to all Madrid residents, taking it out to our city’s parks to promote a healthy way of life”, she added.

Cubo Gym Madrid consists of a series of shipping containers that have been adapted so that they have everything necessary to carry out classes and training sessions. This space is also “equipped with solar panels that make it an energy self-sufficient activity,” explained Miranda.

During its first seven months of life, in 2021, they registered 12,174 uses in the different Madrid parks where they were, which has now led to this expansion that will reach 17 districts. They may be used by people over 15 years of age who register for the sessions and by sports entities that have space reservations and that rent the complete equipment.
