Courtois would secure the Zamora Trophy if he did not play more

Courtois has an easy and effective way to win the Zamora Trophy this season: not play one more minute in the league. The Belgian has a coefficient of 0.62, mathematically unattainable figure for the rest of goalkeepers at this point in the competition, according to MisterChip.

His landing in La Castellana in the summer of 2018 had turbulence, with first few games of huge doubt and a fervent debate about whether or not he should be a starter ahead of Keylor Navas. But little by little it was becoming stronger until today, when it touches the possibility of returning Madrid a Zamora Trophy twelve years later, because a Real Madrid goalkeeper hasn't won it since 2008 (Iker Casillas).

Zidane considers it undisputed and although it does not rule out including some party in the chapter of rotations, a priori counts on him to dispute the final stretch of the League (Getafe, Athletic, Alavés, Granada, Villarreal, Leganés). Courtois already has two Zamoras in his showcase, won in seasons 12/13 and 13/14 when he defended the goal of Atlético de Madrid.

This year, behind him in the race are: Oblak (0.72), Unai Simón (0.86), David Soria (0.94), Ter Stegen (1.00), Vaclik (1.03), Asenjo (1.10), Masip (1.16), Rui Silva (1.17), Rubén Blanco (1.20) and Aitor Fernández (1.44 ). Only Sergio Álvarez, from Celta, has a lower coefficient (0.50), but having only played two games, he did not reach the minimum to qualify for the trophy.
