“With the expulsion we forgot to play”
MADRID, 25 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, regretted having conceded against Atlético de Madrid playing with one more and set pieces, a moment in which they stopped playing, despite which they saved at least “one point” (1-1) that “tastes little” to them.
“It was a very close match. In the second half, they were a little better. With the expulsion we forgot to play, they messed with a low block, we wanted to find the most difficult ball. Against 10 we can’t give away fouls, it’s very light but he has whistled it, it is the only threat we can have against 10. Saving a point is better than zero but it tastes like little for us,” he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.
The goalkeeper for the whites praised Álvaro Rodríguez for his goal as soon as he entered the field to at least save that tie in the last minutes. “We are looking for too high a ball. Álvaro scored his goal. He is a boy who works very well, he is very tall, he has that goal. In Osasuna he entered very well and today he saves a point,” he said.
On the other hand, Courtois was asked about the controversy at the Bernabéu, with the expulsion of Correa for an elbow to Rüdiger. “From where I saw him, he makes a gesture, whether it’s red or not… They can’t complain about the ‘lack’ of the goal either,” he finished.
