MADRID, 30 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois confessed a special joy for winning the League this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu, after a celebration cut short two years ago without fans due to the pandemic, while wishing that the year would bring even more.
“Very happy, two years ago I couldn’t celebrate the League with the fans because of the covid and today is a nice party. Being able to win on your field and celebrate it with the fans and the family is very nice,” he told Movistar Plus, Collected by Europa Press.
The Belgian goalkeeper confessed that the team was clear that the League had to be won this Saturday at home against Espanyol. “We had to finish off today, everything was ready, today we couldn’t fail. Espanyol created some chances but we stayed calm, we scored the first goal and everyone was able to enjoy it”, he stated.
“I’m happy to be able to help the team with saves. Against City I conceded four and against Chelsea three, it’s a bit of a pain for a goalkeeper to concede goals, a clean sheet is fine. The important thing is to win. stops and we want to pass,” he added
Courtois valued that the title is deserved and that they now want to culminate a great year with the Champions League. “We are lucky that the game is on Wednesday and not Tuesday, we are going to enjoy a lot in Cibeles, until 12 and then to train. It is going to be a tough game, maybe with extra time and we have to be prepared”, he said.
“From the beginning we have given everything to win, we have been regular, we have played difficult games. It has been special, it has been a great year and hopefully we can finish it off with the ‘Champions'”, he concluded.
