The City of Soccer of Las Rozas has been the headquarters this morning of the draw for quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey 2019-2020, which has matched the eight teams that were still alive after the previous rounds. The draw has been pure, without distinction of category and with the only condition that the club of the lower division will act as a local in the only match of the tie.
These are the pairings, which will be held this week, on February 4, 5 and 6:
Athletic Club – FC Barcelona, in the new San Mamés
They have been measured eleven times, five of them in Bilbao, where Athletic has only been able to win once. The last three meetings between the two in San Mamés have resulted in 2-1 (eighths in 16-17), 1-2 (fourths in 15-16) and 1-1 (eighths in 10-11).
Real Madrid – Real Sociedad, in the Santiago Bernabéu
Madrid and Basques have met three times in the Copa del Rey. Two in Anoeta, with victories for the Real in the quarters of 1993 and the semifinals of 192, and a win for Madrid, in the first leg of the quarters of 1993.
Granada – Valencia, in the new Los Cármenes
Granada and Valencia have seen each other's faces twice in the Cup, in the knockout round of 2015-2016, in which the team 'ché' beat the Andalusians 4-0 in Mestalla and 0-3 in Los Cármenes, where they will meet this week.
Mirandés – Villarreal, in the Municipal Stadium of Anduva
Villarreal visited Anduva for the quarterfinal round of the 2011-2012 Cup, and suffered. He drew 1-1 and then fell defeated in his stadium giving the pass to the semifinals of that year to a surprising Mirandés.
