MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American tennis player Danielle Collins beat the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (7-5, 6-3) this Saturday in the final of the Miami tournament, in the WTA 1,000 category, to achieve the biggest trophy of her career in the year she plans backing out.

The American player, 30 years old and with two titles under her belt, announced in January that 2024 would be her last professional season. In her native Florida, not far from home, Collins was crowned in Mimai with her third title and her biggest yet, beating the third seed.

In two hours of intense finals, the local player scored the first set over the rest, with the ‘break’ in the twelfth game that made it 7-5. In the second, Collins began by breaking Rybakina, but the Kazakh showed her level, without achieving a second break. In the eighth game, the American achieved the final victory.
