MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
French international defender Clement Lenglet has become a new Atlético de Madrid player this Monday, a team that he joins on loan from FC Barcelona until June 30, 2025, an operation in which the colchoneros do not have an option to buy, as announced by both clubs on their websites.
The 29-year-old centre-back arrives at Atlético de Madrid after having spent the last two seasons on loan in the English Premier League, at Tottenham in 2022-23 and Aston Villa in 2023-24, with whom he played a total of 60 games between both teams. This will be the third consecutive loan for the French player from FC Barcelona, who has not had any minutes in either of the first two league matches with the ‘culers’ team.
Lenglet’s arrival is the fifth signing for the club this season, which is undergoing a deep restructuring of the squad. The Frenchman joins the arrivals of Robin Le Normand, Conor Gallagher, Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sorloth.
The Rojiblancos announced his signing in a statement, highlighting the “good ball handling and anticipation” of their new player, who also “has extensive experience in clubs not only in his native country but also in the Premier League and La Liga.”
