MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
American point guard Chris Jones, the new point guard for Valencia Basket, sees his arrival at the ‘taronja’ club as “a challenge and a great opportunity”, and ready to assume one of the leading roles that Alex Mumbrú has granted him.
“I played against Valencia Basket two years ago and I really liked the facilities. I spoke with the coach and everything seemed right for me, I think I’ve done a good job in the last two years and on a personal level, coming here seemed like a challenge and a great opportunity”, assured Jones in declarations facilitated this Tuesday by Valencia Basket.
The game director, who landed this Monday in Spain, also makes it clear that he feels “comfortable” with the leadership role that coach Alex Mumbrú has given him. “I’ve always liked taking on an important role. I’m very excited and I appreciate the confidence that the coaches have already shown me when I haven’t even stepped foot on the court. I’m very excited and ready to start working with my teammates,” he underlined.
“I’ve seen a lot of my teammates play and been in touch with some of the new ones. I’m excited, ready to get to work and I’m sure it’s going to be a fun year,” added Chris Jones.
Finally, the former French ASVEL Villeurbanne player does not hide that the Endesa League “is one of the best in Europe”. “Everyone knows it, it’s not a secret, so it’s a challenge for me, but I’m here to accept that challenge and I’m sure it’s going to be a good year,” he said.
