Chinese duo Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong played up their top seed status to claim the gold medal in the mixed doubles badminton event at the Paris Olympics on Friday.
The duo, three-time world champions and silver medallists three years ago in Tokyo, convincingly defeated the South Korean pair of Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Eun 21-8 and 21-11 in the final at La Chapelle Arena and won the title without dropping a single set throughout their run.
On the other hand, Japan, with the pair formed by Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, won the bronze medal by beating the South Korean pair composed of Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yu Jung, third seeds, 21-13, 22-20.
