He Chelsea completed this Thursday the signing of the Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard mendy, from Rennes French and that he will fight for ownership with Spanish Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Mendy, 28, has signed a five-year contract with the Londoners, after spending a season at Rennes, where he arrived from Stade Reims.
“I am excited to join Chelsea. It is a dream for me to be part of this team and to work with Frank Lampard and his entire coaching staff. I am already looking forward to meeting my teammates and I can't wait to get started,” Mendy said in statements to Chelsea.
Mendy comes to Chelsea after a season at Rennes in which he conceded 31 goals in 33 games, leaving a clean sheet in 13 games.
The Senegalese goalkeeper helped the French club qualify for the Champions League for the first time by finishing third in the French league.
