Chelsea and Liverpool announce seven positives for COVID

Chelsea announced this Thursday the positives in covid of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi y Ben Chilwell.

The players have been left out of the squad against Everton, although Chilwell was injured, and will now have to undergo 10-day isolation.

Kai Havertz is ill too, but has not tested positive. As Thomas Tuchel explained in the preview of the game against Everton, the squad underwent additional tests this morning, after several players were unwell before training on Wednesday.

This announcement comes after five of the ten matches of the day this weekend have been suspended due to the high number of cases between various Premier League teams.

Liverpool: Van Dijk, Fabinho and Jones positive

Liverpool confirmed this Thursday the covid positives of Virgil Van Dijk, Curtis Jones and Fabinho and they will miss tonight’s game against Newcastle United.

The news comes after five games have been postponed this weekend, in which the star duel on Sunday, between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, is one of those that still stands.

The players are already in isolation and Liverpool have subjected the rest of the squad to additional tests, after knowing the three positives. All the footballers have tested negative.

These three positives come in the worst week for the Premier League since the pandemic began. In total, nine games have been postponed, while last week 42 infected among footballers and club employees were registered, which is the highest number since football returned.
