Cenk Gönen case: Málaga awaits a response from FIFA

Malaga is still waiting for a response from FIFA to the appeal it presented after the sanction of three periods without being able to sign players (until summer 2023) for not paying 780,000 euros to his exportero turco Cenk Gonen. An amount to which another 80,000 euros must be added for interest. The La Rosaleda club wants to have official proof that the highest body of world football admitted for processing this repair request. This aspect is very important because I would suppose that he can sign footballers in January without having to immediately pay the aforementioned money to the Ottoman.

After knowing the aforementioned punishment, the legal services of the club went to work. In the first place, a letter of allegations was sent where it was reported that the FIFA communication reached three emails of the disused club. And also to find out about the procedures to follow to ultimately appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS).

Coat of Arms / Flag Málaga

In the appeal that has also been presented, Málaga explains several very important aspects. The club did not terminate Cengo’s contract (his sports nickname) unilaterally. It was the Turk who wanted to break his remaining year of engagement to try his luck in a team in his country. And now he claims the aforementioned year of contract plus other amounts. The issue is that if it is confirmed that the aforementioned appeal is admitted, the payment could be delayed ‘sine die’ … or not made if the Malaguista lawyers finally manage to overturn the harsh sanction.

Cenñ Gönen has been one of the most catastrophic signings in the history, not only of Malaga, of Spanish football. In three seasons he did not play a single official game. He only participated in four friendlies, none of them complete and with blushing and unprofessional performances. Only under the command of then horrific president / tweeter, the unrivaled Abdullah Al Thani such absurd situations were possible. His incompetence and irresponsibility as the top leader made it possible for Málaga to go from the sublime to the ridiculous. And the judicial administration led by José María Muñoz has had to act as a firefighter to put out all the fires that were lit in the ill-fated stage of the Sheikh.

Transfers and CVC money

As we have been reporting, Manolo Gaspar, sports director, has long been at work in search of reinforcements. The priority is a midfielder who, in some way, makes up for Luis Muñoz’s absence due to a long-term injury. But the search for a center-back and a forward is not ruled out. Málaga expects to receive money from CVC in the next few days. It has margin to be able to file in this famous period-
