Jagoba Arrasate, coach of Atlético Osasuna, considered that the “effectiveness” of Celta de Vigo was decisive for his team to chain their third consecutive defeat away from home in LaLiga Santander at Balaídos.
“The rival has been more effective than us. We entered better than Celta, the first half hour is ours and we had some chance to get ahead, but at 1-0 we were not lucky. And the second one is a serious mistake of ours because we can defend better. It is difficult to explain that without playing a bad game you go 2-0 against”, he said at a press conference.
The Osasuna coach did not hide his anger because the referee Cordero Vega allowed Hugo Mallo, scorer of the first goal of the match, to continue on the pitch “with blood”.
“He had been bleeding for five minutes and the rule says that if he is bleeding he has to come out. He had made a previous shot and then he scores the goal, that’s why it makes you very angry. That was what we were asking for”, explained the Basque coach, who confessed that that first goal did “damage” to his team.
“We entered the game well, we were playing more than we wanted, but that goal hurt us. And the second was key because that’s where the game went. Then we wanted to but we couldn’t, Celta defended well”, he indicated.
