Celta finally celebrates a league victory for its centenary

Vigo triumph 2-3 on their visit to Almería and comeback for Cádiz (3-1) against Villarreal

MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

RC Celta won this Friday 3-2 in their visit to UD Almería, within matchday 4 of LaLiga EA Sports, and finally gave away a victory in full celebrations for their centenary, while Cádiz CF came from behind (3 -1) to a Villarreal CF that was soon left with one less player due to the expulsion of Alfonso Pedraza.

The day opened fire at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium, where Alexander Sörloth made it 0-1 in the 10th minute; Following a bad transfer from Iza Carcelén to the back, the Norwegian striker took the opportunity to steal the ball almost at the bottom line and score after saving the goalkeeper’s exit.

After the quarter hour of the match, Chris Ramos equalized for the Cadiz team by finishing off a rebound from the visiting goalkeeper. In addition, Pedraza received a direct red card in the 22nd minute for headbutting rival player Iván Alejo, which threw the ‘Yellow Submarine’ out of place.

Darwin Machís made it 2-1 from a penalty after 30 minutes and he himself scored the final 3-1 scoreline after 50′, from the edge of the area and with a great right-footed shot close to the post’s strain. This victory put Cádiz with 7 points in the provisional fifth position, leaving Villarreal with 3 points in fifteenth place.

On the other hand, on the pitch of the Power Horse Stadium, there was an attractive duel that finally smiled at the team from Vigo. Iago Aspas became the Celta player with the most games played in the highest category of Spanish football, with 310 in his baggage. And he sealed it by giving the 0-1 assist to Unai Núñez in the 24th minute.

Jorgen Strand Larsen widened the lead for the light-blues on 33′, after a right-footed shot at the long post. Almería reacted after the break, first with a goal by Sergio Akieme (54′) after a stumbling play by Gonzalo Melero; and then with Sergio Arribas’ 2-2 (68′), a pass from Largie Ramazani.

However, the visiting team sealed the 2-3 lead in the final moments thanks to a header from the young Swede, Williot Swedberg, in the small area and benefiting from a measured cross from left-back Manu Sánchez. This result placed Celta in the middle of the table, with 4 points, and kept the team from Almería in relegation, with just one point.
