Celta can now register Sergio Álvarez

Celta de Vigo can now register goalkeeper Sergio Álvarez again in LaLiga, injured since mid-May, after completing the required five months to register a player who was previously discharged due to injury.

The long-term absence of the Galician goalkeeper, who suffered a tear in both menisci in his right knee, was used by Celta to sign winger Nolito, then at Sevilla, in the final stretch of last season.

Since then, Sergio Álvarez continues with a recovery process that was complicated by being infected by COVID-19. However, the club's doctors are confident that the 34-year-old veteran goalkeeper can reappear before the end of this year.

His loss, moreover, coincided with that of his co-worker Rubén Blanco, which precipitated the consolidation of Iván Villar as the starting goalkeeper of the team led by Óscar García Junyent.
