The deputy of the Popular Party for Barcelona Cayetana Alvarez de Toledo (48) has reported this Saturday through his social networks that this Friday he underwent a lumpectomy at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital in Madrid, after detecting signs of cancer in his breast during a routine mammogram.
The former spokesperson for the PP in Congress thanked the “excellent teams” at the hospital, “especially doctors Ruiz Jiménez, Osorio, Benítez and Pérez de la Fuente”. Lastly, she reminded “all women of risk age” that “early diagnosis saves lives”.

As reported by specialized websites, a lumpectomy is “a surgery in which a malignant (cancerous) tumor is removed from the breast. Only the tumor and a small area of normal tissue around it are removed. The breast is preserved and, generally, the nipple”.

Cayetana broke her marriage with Joaquin Guell (London director of the Investindustrial venture capital fund), father of her two daughters, Cayetana y Flavia, at the end of 2017 after 17 years. A year and a half after the divorce, she was related to the journalist arcadi sword.
