Gianluigi Buffon leads the ranking of the best goalkeepers of the 21st century (2001-2020) internationally, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). The Italian legend also tops the ranking of the first decade (2001-2010) and is the second of the second decade (2011-2020). The second best goalkeeper of the 21st century is the Spanish Iker Casillas, winner like Buffon and Neuer of 5 IFFHS annual awards.
The third is Petr Cech, who won an annual award and is in the Top 5 for 12 years. Manuel Neuer, crowned the best goalkeeper in the world of the second decade (2011-2020), ranks 4 in the ranking century ahead of Thibaut Courtois, winner of the best goalkeeper of the year 2018.
Fani Stipkovic, Croatian journalist, is the only woman in history elected to the IFFHS Executive Board and is responsible for presenting this year's awards.
The Croatian communicator did more than 400 exclusive interviews with the best athletes in the world, among others Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant or Luis Figo.
