Cartagena wins Levante by the minimum and sleeps as leader

The Murcians add their second consecutive victory and sleep as leaders after winning 0-1 to break Levante’s unbeaten record

MADRID, 17 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Cartagena won (0-1) by the minimum this Friday against Levante with a goal from Sadiku, confirming its improvement and adding its second consecutive victory to sleep leader of LaLiga Smartbank at this start of the sixth day, while the Granotas are slowed down their good start to the course and break their unbeaten record in the competition.

The Ciutat team did not take advantage of their superiority in terms of occasions, sparing the life of a Cartagena team that got its prize just before the break. Cartagena is already first in the table with 12 points, while Levante is sixth and suffers a slowdown in its rise to the top positions.

The duel promised fast football and dizzying transitions, and so it was, with very high pressure from both teams from the start of the match. In the first minutes of scoring, it was Mehdi Nafti’s Levante, who watched the game from the stands due to suspension, who first approached Cartagena’s goal, first with a shot after stealing from Wesley and then with a header from Soldier, who could not extend his positive scoring streak.

But the goal fell on the visiting side, in the first half addition, after former great Sadiku, who came on for the injured Ortuño in minute 21, finished off a Datkovic cross in the small area. The VAR had to review the goal, after verifying that Vezo’s position enabled the Albanian striker, who gave the momentary victory to Cartagena, who knew that he had a great booty to his credit.

However, Levante were able to equalize in that same discount before the break, but the visiting goalkeeper, Aarón Escandell, avoided Montiel’s 1-1 with a save.

After the break, Nafti moved the bench somewhat desperately because the ball did not go in. He gave entry to Bouldini, first, who enjoyed a good opportunity that did not enter either, and Brugué, Cantero, Musonda and Róber Ibáñez, later. But that did not finish encouraging a Levante that saw how it could not avoid the first defeat of the course.

Cartagena gave possession to Levante, already with the security that the 0-1 gave them, but the local team was still somewhat thick in the creation and finished connecting with their attackers. Musto and Mikel Rico did a crucial job in midfield to stop the last attempts of the Granotas, who had the clearest in the final stretch with a shot by Rober Ibáñez in added time, which went just wide. The equalizing goal did not come, and Cartagena was able to celebrate the provisional leadership.
