Cartagena boards the ‘playoff’ train and Levante closes the last car

MADRID, 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Cartagena defeated Málaga (2-1) this Thursday at the close of matchday 14 of LaLiga SmartBank to place themselves in the ‘Top 6’ of a tight classification by the promotion zone, which Levante closes after their goalless draw in Granada.

The goals in the second half from Ortuño and Jansson left the three points in Cartagena against the bottom team, a Málaga that played more than an hour with one less player due to the expulsion of Esteban Burgos. De Blasis, one of the best of the locals, provoked the action.

The march that Cartagena put in did not work until the second half, but Cristian made it 1-1 for the Andalusians. Those of Pepe Mel, who was unable to lift the Malacitano team, defended themselves as best they could until Jansson appeared.

Cartagena thus adds 24 points, to Levante’s 23 and Granada’s 22. In Los Cármenes there was a null combat, with the threat of a ‘granota’ team that arrived in the Nasrid capital with four consecutive victories. Granada, on a roll at home, could not beat Javi Calleja’s solid team, both without aim.

Where there were goals and pairs was in El Molinón, where Sporting (20 points) and Albacete (22) shared another match (2-2) to tighten the playoff zone even more. The La Mancha squad turned around Campuzano’s initial goal, but Cristo González made it 2-2 in the 80th minute.
