Carlos Tevez debuts as coach at Rosario Central

Former striker Carlos Tevez, who played for the Argentine national team, Boca Juniors, Manchester United and Juventus among other teams, will make his debut as coach on the Rosario Central bench, an Argentine club that announced its hiring on Tuesday.

“Carlos Tévez is the DT of Rosario Central! El Apache became the new auriazul coach, after signing a contract with the club for 12 months. Carlos ‘el Chapa’ Retegui, will be a member of his coaching staff,” reported the Rosario club throught social media.

Retegui is an Olympic multi-medallist field hockey coach, with both the women’s and men’s teams, with whom he won the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

He witnessed the defeat against Vélez and debuts on Friday

Tevez witnessed with Retegui this Monday the defeat of his new team against Vélez Sarsfield by 2-0 from the stadium.

This will be the first experience as technical director of ‘Apache’, who stopped playing for Boca Juniors in June 2021 and after a year of uncertainty confirmed his final retirement a few weeks ago and his desire to become a coach.

Rosario Central is 22nd in the table of 28 teams in the Argentine League with four points out of a possible 12 and is in the round of 32 of the Argentine Cup.

Tevez’s first match as coach will be this Friday at home against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on matchday five of the local league.
