Carlos Sainz: “We lost a lot of time at the stop, we could have taken a risk”

MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) regretted the loss of time in the ‘pit lane’ of the sprint race this Saturday at the Belgian Grand Prix, where he missed a “safe” podium, thinking of finishing off the good feelings on sunday.

“It was a race to have finished in the top three for sure. The race was going to be decided at that stop and we lost a lot of time, three or four positions that have compromised my chances of being in the top three,” he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press, after being fourth.

Sainz tried to excuse his team for enduring his start in the traffic of the massive entrance to the ‘boxes’, but confessed that he could have done better and get more points. “A very tight pit lane, our position there doesn’t help, these are things that happen, maybe we’ll have to see if we could have risked a little more,” he said.

“Tomorrow on the attack, we start fourth, we have a good rhythm, but be careful because we know that on Sundays we tend to go back a bit, it can be a hard and long race but for now the car is going well, we will have to try,” he finished.
