Carlos Sainz: “We have taken a step forward, but in the race we will have to suffer a little more”

MADRID, 4 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) has assured that although his fourth starting position for the Bahrain Grand Prix race “is not ideal” it has meant “a step forward”, but he has warned that on Sunday “He will have to suffer a little more” due to tire degradation.

“Yesterday I had a very clean day and I lacked a bit of preparation coming to this ‘qualification’. I was able to progress and in the end I did a lap that earned me fourth. It’s not ideal and it’s not where we want to be , but, given the circumstances, I think it’s not bad,” he said in statements to DAZN.

Despite the difficulties, especially in one of the curves of the Sakhir circuit, the man from Madrid assured that he is “quite well”. “The only thing is that there is a curve in the second sector that was very difficult for me, I have lost the rear end a couple of times. It is where I lack a bit, in the rest of the circuit I am quite comfortable”, he indicated

“In the first sector I’m going very fast, in the last one I may also lose the rear a bit… As we were yesterday, today is a step forward. Tomorrow we will have to suffer a little more, because we know that Ferrari degrades more than our rivals , but we’ll go for it,” he continued.

Finally, Sainz spoke about equality in the top positions. “The fight is fun, things are tight. I think that tomorrow in the race things will change, anything can happen. Except for the Red Bulls, who I think are clear favourites, behind there will be a fight; the Aston Martins will go very strong and the Mercedes in the race usually go well too”, he concluded.
