The new Ferrari F1-75 aims to make the ‘tifosi’ proud
Mattia Binotto: “We hope to be side by side with our rivals and be the best car”
BARCELONA, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The new Scuderia Ferrari F1-75 lands in the new era of Formula 1 to try to succeed in the hands of the Spanish driver Carlos Sainz and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, with an aggressive design and “bravo” to try, as the Madrid driver wanted , go to a “higher level” in a 2022 World Cup that he hopes will be “successful”.
“I am more than ready for this season. 2021 was a great year for me because I learned how the team works and works. It was a great experience for me. Now it is time to take the team to a higher level, to take another step further. and achieve a more successful 2022”, assured Carlos Sainz at the launch of the new F1-75.
Sainz, in an online event alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc and the team’s race director, Mattia Binotto, assured that this new single-seater, which is called F1-75 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the first Ferrari that competed in Formula 1, is “radical” in the best possible sense.
“I think the car looks aggressive, it looks radical, and very nice too. It’s innovative, it’s different, you can see there’s been some thought in the garage and I like it because it’s radical, which is what you want to see when you see a new car. I hope it will be fast”, predicted the Spaniard, who in 2021 made four podiums in his first World Championship at Ferrari.
As for the design, with a darker red, it is also to your liking. “I like it, you see the 75th anniversary logo and it fits perfectly with the new color, it takes you back to Ferrari’s past. It’s a color that is a mix of what we had last year on the rear and on the front, you have mixed it and it is perfect”, he was sincere.
On the 18-inch wheels, which are larger, he sees a ‘but’. “We tried them last year in the previous car and it seemed like another step in the right direction. It gives us the possibility to push a little more in the race, to challenge the cars in front by allowing you to get closer. The only ‘but’ would be visibility, they are larger and especially on urban circuits it can be a problem,” he warned.
The Ferrari team manager, Mattia Binotto, was the one who unveiled the new car alongside his drivers. “It’s totally different, it’s got a lot of changes. Starting with the nose, with a new front end due to the new regulations. We’ve also worked a lot on the new power unit and its cooling. We’ve worked a lot on it all winter because we knew that It is a key piece for this year”, he valued.
“These cars are different, now the focus is on the bottom of the car and the ‘ground effect’. And in terms of form, the work we have done on the new floor is incredible. I am excited, this car is the result of the commitment, passion, teamwork that has invested everything in this single-seater,” he said.
Thus, he claimed to be “proud” of the entire team and the work done in the design of this F1-75. “I would define this car as a Ferrari bravo. The expectations were high, in recent years the results have not been what Ferrari expected. But in 2019 we started a change and now we are a stronger and, above all, more united team, and this single-seater perfectly expresses our efforts”, he celebrated.
“Now it’s time to go to the circuits and fight with our rivals, which undoubtedly motivates us. With this F1-75 we hope to be side by side with our rivals, aiming to be the best car and the highest goals. We have a responsibility, and we want our fans to be proud of Ferrari again,” he commented on what he expects from the 2022 World Cup.
For his part, the Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc enjoyed seeing the new ‘Cavallino prampante’. “I love the car and I think I’ll like it even more if it’s fast on track. It looks huge, up front, and it looks quite different. The part I like the most is the new bodywork, in the middle of it. It looks amazing, kind of extreme. And I like it,” he said.
“I work as hard as I can to improve year after year. And yes, this 2022 is going to be a very important season for the team, and it is a good opportunity for us, the drivers, too. The expectations are very high, and we want to ensure that the work done gives good results”, he commented at a sporting level.
