The former Italian coach Fabio Capello believes that the Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been “a presumptuous” in this final stretch of his sports career and that he has “searched” for his current situation that “does not give credit” to what he has done previously.
“He has asked for it and for what he has done in his career, he does not give him credit. He does not talk about the player, but about the moment and he has been presumptuous, he went around offering himself without finding anyone who believed him. He has become a little problematic for a team”, indicated Capello in an interview to ‘Corriere della Sera’.
In addition, he praised the Argentine Leo Messi, whom he considers one of the best in the world “even without having won the World Cup.” “Pelé, Maradona and he have done things that others don’t even think about,” remarked the former coach of Real Madrid, Milan or Juventus, among others, who described the Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez as “stupid” for his way of behaving in field.
Capello also believes that it would be something “very nice” if Carlo Ancelotti, currently at Real Madrid, ends up on the bench of the Brazilian team, although he is not too optimistic. “I think it won’t happen and Brazilian national pride will prevail,” he said.
Finally, the Italian, currently a commentator for the ‘Sky Sport’ channel, supported Didier Deschamps, the French coach, for having dispensed with Karim Benzema at the World Cup in Qatar due to his physical condition.
