Caitlin Clark sets a new All-American record and an NCAA record for points scored in a win.

It seems like there is always more history to be made about Caitlin Clark. On Wednesday, they had the chance to break the Big Ten record for most points scored and progress all the NCAA record list.

Clark needed five points to pass Jackie Stiles (Missouri State), who was third on the NCAA’s all-time scoring record with 3,389 points going into Iowa’s game against Northwestern.

Clark surpassed the mark before the end of the first quarter. In the next frame, she jumped over Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell to take second place and score her 3,403rd career point. That score also makes it the most ever scored in a Big Ten game.

Clark is trying to catch Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum to feed the record for most points scored by a woman (3,527).

Pete Maravich scored 3,667 points in his career as a basketball player at LSU from 1967–68 to 1969–70. He holds the record for most points scored for both men’s and women’s basketball.

Clark said after the game, “I think the most cool thing is just being around famous people.” The fact that I’m in the same region as them makes it extra special, and I have a lot of great teammates who let me do my thing.

I watched those players grow up, especially Brittney Griner and Kelsey Mitchell. They are still playing our games at the highest level, and you watch them every night.

Caitlin Clark had a great junior year at Iowa. The point guard led the Hawkeyes to their first Final Four in 30 years and became the first play in NCAA Division I history to record 900 points and 300 assists in a season. He also won every national play of the year award.

This season, Clark has another chance to make history: the 6-foot-0 senior could beat Kelsey Plum’s record for most career scoring in Division I history. On Wednesday, Clark became the Big Ten’s highest-leading scorer.

There is no doubt that Iowa’s Caitlin Clark is one of the best college basketball players of all time. But that doesn’t mean that the senior guard to West Des Moines, Iowa is slowing down on her achievements.

Clark has scored 34.8 points and given out 7.9 assists per game over the last 10 games. During that time, she became the Big Ten’s all-time assists champion and moved up to second on the women’s all-time scoring list.

With all the numbers and awards she gets every game, it can be hard to keep up with her resume. To help alongside that, we’re keeping track of Clark’s most important moments in her career, such as how close she is to breaking the highest NCAA scoring record.

Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes’ game against Moira Joiner as well as the Michigan State Spartans on January 2 was the first game on Peacock’s women’s college basketball schedule. The game was between the two best offenses in the Big Ten.

Clark made the most important shot of the game, a three-pointer from almost half-court that gave the Hawkeyes a 76–73 win over the Spartans.

Some of Iowa’s best moments this season are shown below. You can also see what Clark has done so far and how near she is to breaking Kelsey Plum’s record for most points scored in NCAA history.

That same win on December 30 moved Clark up to fifth place on the highest-scoring list for D1 NCAA women’s basketball. It was that game that Clark set the Big Ten record for assists.

Then, against Wisconsin on January 16, she beat Brittney Griner to become fourth on the all-time list.

Clark moved up even more in Iowa’s game against Northwestern on January 31. She moved ahead of Jackie Stiles to take third place overall, and then she quickly passed Kelsey Mitchell to move into second place on the NCAA’s all-time scoring list.

Peacock will continue to show women’s college basketball games until 2024. Clark and the Hawkeyes have the most games, eight, so they are in first place.
