Cádiz has squandered ten points from minute 85

“When things don’t work out, you have to accept them, digest themout of rage and continue working”, Sergio said at the end of the game with Betis on the last goal conceded. Borja Iglesias’s goal turned the result around and dynamited Cádiz’s good game five minutes from the end. This situation has been repeated (and much) throughout the season. If three months ago we commented that the yellows were the team that conceded the most goals in the last 15 minutes, conceding 39% of the total goals in this section, the situation is more bloody counting only the last five minutes (plus added).

From 85′ to the end, Cádiz has received eleven goals of the 43 total so far in the League. This supposes 26% of the goals conceded. A pending task to change in the remainder of the course. The situation that Cádiz has experienced throughout the season, always on the edge of the abyss, has led to defensive errors that have caused these goals. And what is more worrying, these eleven goals have wasted ten points that were practically already in the pocket of the Silver Cup team.

Of the eleven goals, six cost an upset in the form of points. On matchday 3, Osasuna visited Mirandilla. The yellows were looking for their first victory of the season and the truth is that they had it for many minutes. In 89′ the result marked a 2-1 for the yellows. However, a sensational Roberto Torres would put an end to the local illusions, with a goal to make it 2-2 (90′) and an assist, on David García’s goal, which left the final 2-3 in 94′. Three points to limbo. Shortly after, on matchday 11, the yellows visited the La Cerámica stadium. The 2-3 was seen in the light in minute 93′, with a hat-trick of Lozano, until in minute 94 Danjuma appeared to snatch two points.

The first round left yet another point-loss game in the final minutes. On this occasion, Granada visited Cádiz. Arzamendia put the 1-0 on the scoreboard. Result that seemed to end the curse of the Mirandilla. Nevertheless, Jorge Molina would have other plans. In minute 87 he scored the draw, leaving Cádiz without victory. Same story occurred on matchday 21, already with Sergio on the bench. Cádiz received Espanyol and the team improved its performance. In minute 94, the yellow team won 2-1 and RDT ended the local hopes a minute later. To this we must add the goal by Borja Iglesias, at 85′, previously named. In total, ten points squandered in the last few minutes, which have abruptly weighed down the yellow interests.
