Buffon renews: he will play until he is 46!

Gigi Buffon assured that he still wanted to play, and he has kept his word. This morning Parma announced its renewal until 2024, so the legendary goalkeeper will remain in the green until he is 46 years old. The president of the club, Kyle Krause, confirmed the agreement at a press conference alongside the former youth player, happier than ever: “It’s a great day, what I wanted happened, the president, the fans and, I hope, the whole city.

The goalkeeper confirmed his enormous confidence in the project: “If I didn’t believe in what we are doing, I wouldn’t have agreed to renew. This is a challenge that excites me a lot and to which I think I can still help a lot”.

For Buffon, Krause “is very clear about where he wants to go”, and although “There was some shock in this first phase, it would be a shame to go back”.

The Italian played 22 games this season, which despite an important market, with big names and more than 30 million invested, is not going as expected. Parma sacked coach Maresca in November, replacing him with the experienced Iachini, and now sits in 13th place, nine points out of the playoff zone. Returning to Serie A this season is already very difficult, but that doesn’t matter to Buffon. He wanted to continue playing for his Parma, and that is what he will do.
