Bruno, a close friend of Dani Alves, changes his statement: “He had drunk a lot”

Bruno Brazilclose friend of Dani Alvestestified this Tuesday in the second session of the trial against the former soccer player, accused of committing an alleged sexual assault against a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30 to 31, 2022. The deponent, who was with the athlete at the party, has changed his version about the reason why they left the premises.

Brazil has not been able to say exactly how long both were in the nightclub after the events, and that He only remembers that they were “inside for a while”. After being asked why they left, he responded that “there was no reason, it was late.” “We drank a lot. (…) We drove together in the car, I was driving,” he said, stating that he first left Alves at home and then went to his own.

It is worth remembering that Brazil said in its first statement that the Brazilian footballer had a bad stomach and that was the reason why they hurriedly left the club. He has alleged this change in the story to a translation problem in his first intervention.

“Alves had drunk a lot that night”

The athlete's friend has commented that on the day the events occurred they went out for lunch and dinner and that, afterwards, they went out for drinks. “We said goodbye to our friends and went to Sutton. “I was driving because Alves had drunk a lot that night.”has highlighted.

Regarding his first meeting with the complainant and her friend, he said that he made “the signal” for both of them to go to the booth. “We danced, we had a good time. (…) They were having a good time, “There was chemistry between the two, they danced together.”has explained.

When Dani Alves went to the bathroom with the alleged victim, the friend stayed with the cousin making jokes: “The girl went into the bathroom after him (…) I saw Alves and the complainant come out (…) He came out of the bathroom and we were in the same booth dancing. (…) He talked to me, then they said goodbye, he waved at me and his cousin gave me a kiss on the cheek.” Then, they left the club.

The next day, December 31, Alves and Brazil met again, although, according to the witness, they did not talk about what happened in Sutton. “I had seen things on the news but I didn't tell him anything because I was tired. I gave him his space”he commented.

For his part, the director of Sutton has stated that that night he was notified of what happened and that the young woman, “very nervous,” she was afraid to tell who had attacked her for fear that they would not believe her. “They told me that she had allegedly been the victim of a sexual assault. It took a lot for her to tell us what had happened to her,” he commented. “Alves passed in front of us, I don't know how to say the distance, but he passed in front of us,” he added. This version coincides with that of the person in charge of the room, who maintains that the young woman was “very nervous” and “crying a lot.”
