Brexit blocks Wolves

Wolverhampton have chosen Portuguese Bruno Lage to fill the vacancy left by Nuno Espirito Santo on the English team's bench. However, the agreement cannot be made official because, according to the BBC, the former Benfica technician does not meet the minimum requirements required by English law to be granted a work visa. Brexit has led to a tightening of the criteria for non-British citizens to be able to work in the UK, and lhe English Federation requires that foreign coaches have worked, in the last five years, in one of the main leagues of European football, group in which they do not include the Portuguese championship. Bruno Lage does not meet those conditions. Hence, for that reason his arrival at Wolverhampton is blocked.

However, that same medium adds that Bruno Lage will present his allegations this Wednesday with the aim of convincing the English administration to provide him with a work visa. Wolverhampton believe that the fact that he worked as Carlos Carvalhal's assistant at Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea from 2015 to 2018 can help to unblock the situation.

In the meantime, Nuno Espirito Santo, after leaving the Wolverhampton bench after four seasons, sounds strong to be Ancelotti's successor at Everton.
