Braking in the stands and losses, the bad year of Levante in the offices

The Levante, bottom of First division and without winning in the League Since April, it has lived a difficult 2021 in the social section, with a clear slowdown in the number of partners, with millionaire losses recently presented to its shareholders and without having been able to advance in the construction of its new sports city.

The return to the public to the stadiums, which started in a testimonial way in the final stretch of the 20-21 season, was good news for the Levante fans, since they had not been able to enjoy the remodeling City of Valencia since it was released in November 2020 behind closed doors due to the pandemic.

However, the influx of City of Valencia has dropped notably because the number of members has dropped from more than 22,000 in the 19-20 season to just over 16,000 now, as the club decided last summer to put an end to the various loyalty promotions and for which the majority of members acquired their subscription for free.

Nor has the sporting situation helped and, in fact, the relationship between the fans of the Levante and his team has been tense to such an extent that a little over a month ago a representation of the supporters’ supporters met with the captains of the squad to smooth things over.

To the president Quico Catalan, since 2010 at the head of the Valencian club, the economic aspect has also failed him this year and for the first time he has presented losses of 23.2 million euros last year after not having sold any player in the last transfer market .

Despite the record number of losses since it was Catalan, the economic future of Levante seems insured thanks to the recently signed agreement between the American fund CVC and the League and that it will inject into the Valencian club in the coming years almost seventy million euros, although the president will have to improve financial fair play if he wants to sign in January.

Seventy percent of that money that will come from CVC will be destined to the two major projects of the Levant: the construction of the new sports city, which will be located in Nazareth (Valencia), and the second phase of remodeling the City of Valencia.

However, the president of the Levante recently admitted to its shareholders that the club has already done all its part of the work and that they depend exclusively on receiving the corresponding authorizations from the city council of Valencia and the Port Authority of Valencia to be able to start the works in Nazareth during the first months of 2022.

Catalan nor was it able to specify to shareholders when the second phase of remodeling the City of Valencia, because after presenting on March 10, 2021 its proposal to the city council of Valencia and having already drawn up the draft is pending that the Valencian consistory solves all the bureaucratic procedures.
