Bosnian Irfan Peljto to referee Switzerland-Spain Nations League match in Geneva

Bosnian referee Irfan Peljto will be the referee for the match between Switzerland and Spain in the second round of Group A4 of the Nations League, which will be played this Sunday (8:45 p.m./La1) in Geneva, according to UEFA.

An international since 2015 and a member of the Elite category of European football’s governing body, Peljto will be in Geneva assisted on the touchlines by his compatriots Senad Ibrisimbegovic and Davor Beljo, with fellow Bosnian Milo Gigovic acting as fourth official.

Last February, Irfan Peljto made history by becoming the first Bosnian referee to officiate a Champions League knockout match, where he officiated the first leg of the round of 16 match between RB Leipzig and Real Madrid.

This milestone demonstrates the international prestige of this referee, born 40 years ago in Sarajevo, who will be in charge of officiating during the match between Switzerland and Spain on Sunday, corresponding to the second day of Group A4 of the UEFA Nations League.

As regards the VOR room, the German Bastian Dankert will be in charge of acting as video assistant referee, with the also German Katrin Rafalski assisting the VAR.
