DORTMUND (GERMANY), 19 Aug. (dpa/EP) –
The general director of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has denied this Friday the rumors about the possible signing of the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, assuring that they have “no contact” with the striker.
“At first glance, the union of Cristiano Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund is a wonderful idea. I love that player. He is the best player the world has given. The problem is that there is no contact with the player. And therefore , there is no transfer”, he reported at the press conference on the club’s annual account balance.
Rumors about a possible transfer of the player from Manchester United to the Bundesliga recently made headlines. US broadcaster CBS Sports speculated on Thursday that Borussia was Ronaldo’s “last chance” to leave the British club this summer.
Also, previously, the newspaper As had stated that Ronaldo only had two possible destinations: Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund. Both pieces of information assured that there had already been contacts between the aurinegro club and the 37-year-old striker.
