José Bordalás, Getafe coach, acknowledged this Sunday at a press conference that the clash against Real Sociedad will be “very decisive” in the European aspirations of both clubs and declared that whoever wins from both will have options to fight to finish between the best in the ranking.
The Alicante coach will direct his fifth game after the resumption of the championship and will try to find his first victory after an erratic restart. Like Real Sociedad, which has not added three points in the same clash and both clubs, little by little, have been losing options of finishing in the top four.
“It is a very decisive game. We are aware that we are facing a great rival. We are two direct rivals and whoever wins will have a good chance of continuing to fight for European positions. There is no doubt,” he said.
“If we look at the results and the points, before the pandemic we were both with evident regularity and doing things well. From the upper zone, we are the two teams that have joined the least. It is normal to say that we are the two teams most affected, but there have been more, not only Real and us. In the end a game goes by details, and in that sense we have had no luck, “he added.
For Bordalás, the six-day period between matches that his players have had “has come in handy” for everyone to disconnect after many consecutive games and trainings.
“The team is ready. We have worked well and looking forward to the match tomorrow. We need to make no mistakes. We have corrected, discussed and analyzed. We have made mistakes that have penalized us greatly and that we usually do not comment. Almost all have been on set pieces, “he declared.
“We are confident that we are in another dimension. It is true that in Valladolid we have improved considerably. The team is adapted to the new way of competing, without fans, in empty venues. We have high hopes for tomorrow's game. We are mentally strong”, added.
He also indicated that although Getafe has not achieved the “desired” results after a “difficult restart”, it is with a lot of “confidence” that against Real Sociedad it will have a great match.
In addition, he described his next rival as a “great team” that has a “magnificent coach” (Imanol Alguacil) who has long demonstrated the good level that has led him to be among the best this season.
“They also have a magnificent squad, with players of immense talent. You cannot judge a team for the games they have played after the return. They have been different scenarios. But I am looking forward to a good Real Sociedad because they are a great team” .
Questioned by the departure of the Brazilian Deyverson Silva, who said goodbye to Getafe with good words towards the Azulón club, Bordalás said that his team always behaves well with everyone because there is always a sensational atmosphere and group.
“The president takes great care of his team. Unfortunately, Deyverson had to leave, he is a loan player. The recognition is mutual. We wish him the best, he has helped us with his work and with some of the important goals he has scored as the Ajax, “he recalled.
In addition, he reported that to face Real Sociedad he will only have one loss, that of the Togolese central defender Djené Dakonam, who will have to complete a sanction match after seeing his fifth yellow against Valladolid.
“Fortunately, Cabaco and Etebo have joined the group, normally, and the only loss is that of Djené by sanction. They are all available.”
