MADRID, 12 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Congolese footballer Théo Bongonda has become this Wednesday a new player for Russian Spartak Moscow, a club with which he has signed a contract that binds him until June 30, 2026, after leaving Cádiz CF, according to the statements of both entities.
“Cádiz CF and Spartak Moscow reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Théo Bongonda on June 30,” the Andalusian team advanced about the Belgian player, who did not join the preseason with the rest of his teammates, “because He was pending a medical examination and signing the relevant contract” with the Russian team.
The 27-year-old player played a total of 32 games for Cádiz last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists. It was his second experience in Spain, after he was part of RC Celta between 2014 and 2017, he being key in the last campaign with 30 games played.
Bongonda began his career with Belgian side Zulte Waregem in 2013, with an influential performance that led him to the Galician team. After a brief stint at Turkish Trabzonspor in 2017-2018, playing only 6 games, he returned to Zulte Waregem, before joining Genk in 2019.
After competing for Cádiz in 2022-2023, Bongonda signed “in his best moment, at the peak of his career”, for Spartak Moscow until June 30, 2026. “We have been following him closely for about nine months. I even spoke with his coach about his youth stage. We believe that he will bring variety to Spartak’s game in attack and will delight our fans as often as possible,” said the sports director of the Russian team.
