Betis seeks to assault Europe at the home of Girona

Real Sociedad defends its sixth place in Mendizorrotza and Celta and Rayo want to avoid relegation

MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Girona, third classified in LaLiga EA Sports, will try to establish themselves this Sunday in Montilivi (4:15 p.m.) in ‘Champions’ positions against a Real Betis that aspires to enter the European zone, in a thirtieth matchday of LaLiga EA Sports in which the Real Sociedad defends sixth place against Deportivo Alavés in Mendizorrotza (6:30 p.m.) and in which RC Celta and Rayo Vallecano face each other with the aim of moving away from the relegation places (2:00 p.m.).

After an almost immaculate first lap, which allowed them to keep up with Real Madrid in the lead, Míchel’s men began to falter at the beginning of February; Since then, they have only won two of the seven matches played in the domestic competition.

This balance of seven points out of the last 21 possible has made them fall to third position in the table with 62 points, two behind FC Barcelona and ten behind the leadership of the Madrid team; Meanwhile, Athletic Club, fourth (56), is six points away and the first of the contenders to sneak into the ‘Champions zone’, Atlético de Madrid, is seven points away.

Now, the Catalan team will have to leave behind their setback before the break against Getafe (1-0) and try to overcome a Real Betis with whom they tied in the Benito Villamarín duel (1-1). The green and white team, however, is currently mired in a crisis of results.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have lost three times against Atlético (2-1), Villarreal (2-3) and Rayo (2-0), and have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions. With 42 units, they are four away from the sixth place of the San Sebastian team.

The home team will not be able to count on Savinho due to an accumulation of yellow cards, nor with the injured Ricard Artero and Joel Roca, while Toni Villa is a doubt. The Betis will have the absences of Marc Bartra, Marc Roca and Youssouf Sabaly and will recover Cédric Bakambu.

For its part, Real Sociedad will seek its third consecutive victory in Mendizorrotza to try to settle in the last of the continental access positions. After being eliminated from the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, Imanol Alguacil’s men have regained their momentum in the domestic competition, in which they accumulate 46 points, four ahead of Betis and ten ahead of the ‘Champions’ places.

With the victories against Granada (2-3) and Cádiz (2-0) they ended a streak of four consecutive defeats in all competitions and displaced the Betis from sixth place, who will now have to defend without the suspended Robin Le Normand and without the injured Martín Merquelanz, Aihen Muñoz, Carlos Fernández and Brais Méndez.

The Vitorians, who will only regret the loss of Aleksandar Sedlar, have gone on seven dates in which they have only celebrated one victory, the one against Rayo (2-0), later interrupted by the defeat in the derby against Athletic Club (2- 0). Six of 21 points at stake keep them thirteenth in the standings with 32 points, seven more than the burning zone.

Closer to danger are Celta and Rayo, who in Abanca Balaídos have an opportunity to ward it off. The Galicians, who came into the break with a victory against Sevilla (1-2), seem to have reacted with the help of Claudio Giráldez, Rafa Benítez’s replacement at the head of the light blue bench.

With 27 points, with only two points ahead of the penultimate place of Cádiz, the first of the teams in relegation, the Vigo team will need to beat a Madrid team (29) that has four points of advantage over the burning positions.

Just before the international break, Iñigo Pérez’s men put an end to a streak of nine league games without a win against Real Betis (2-0). Now, the reactions of celestial and rayists will be put to the test.

Carlos Dotor, Luca de la Torre, Joseph Aidoo and Mihailo Ristic will miss the event for the locals, who are still pending the status of Williot Swedberg. The Madrid team will add to the absence due to Diego Méndez’s injury those of the suspended Raúl de Tomás and Florian Lejeune, and Aridane and Kike Pérez are doubtful.
