Betis reduces the final candidates for the new stadium to seven

MADRID, 10 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis announced this Wednesday that it has reduced to seven the candidacies that will choose to design its future new studio and that they will have to be in charge of the construction of the new Preference stand and the action on exterior and interior elements in the rest of the stands of Gol Norte, Fondo and Gol Sur, the design of the roof, as well as the management of the entire plot.

As reported by the Verdiblanco team, it received the required documentation of 30 candidacies, of which this cut of the seven, national and international, has been made, which will be in the final process and which will be able to send their proposals until June 15. The chosen ones are ‘AFL Architects+Ayesa’, ‘Fenwick & Iribarren+Mc2+SBP’, ‘Idom+SV60’, ‘L35+KSS+Argenia+Ines Ingeniería’, ‘Lamela-Eddea+Buro Happold’, ‘Populous+HCP +Ideam’, and ‘Rafael de la Hoz+Gensler’. Once this period for submitting proposals and designs has closed, the club will communicate the chosen candidacy during July.

The club received the representatives of these firms in the anteroom of the Benito Villamarín Stadium to explain the requirements that the new stadium must meet and its main hallmarks. “The stadium is the heart of clubs in the 21st century, both emotionally and financially. Stadiums have a soul and must be respected, but adapting it to what the club wants,” said Javier Doña, director of the New Stadium Project.

“We want to turn the stadium into a business model that goes beyond the matches. This is not just your stadium, it is your home, and it also impacts all business lines, our audiences and our commercial value. We want one quality, comfortable, welcoming for beticismo and with activity 365 days a year, that is something non-negotiable.That it projects the Real Betis brand in the design itself, that it is an icon of the city, a must-see and a center of entertainment”, he detailed in words collected on the club’s website.

The manager recalled that they are “an open club” and that they want to “project it” from this remodeling. “We invite the fans to participate in our party. And we want to communicate that message with the design, which has to be welcoming, a stadium with light, in which we channel the fans internally in an optimal way. We need more comfort, more service and more leisure for different ‘targets’ and new generations, adapted to the future and flexible for subsequent updates. History, essence and future”, he warned.

In addition, Doña believes that with this new venue they will enter “in the group of 17 stadiums of the five major European leagues with 60,000 or more spectators”, clarifying that only eleven of them are “urban, with what this means to generate the greatest number of possible entries. “We want to build the future of the club and the stadium is considered to be one of the cornerstones of the 2022/26 Strategic Plan,” she declared.
