Betis examines its good dynamics against a needy Athletic

MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Betis visits San Mamés this Sunday to face Athletic Club with the aim of staying at the top of the table, while Granada will seek its fourth victory of the season against Mallorca and Getafe will try against Osasuna to get out of the pothole in the that is immersed in LaLiga Santander.

Pellegrini’s men arrive on this day 18 third in the table with 33 points, after their victories against Real Sociedad (4-0) and FC Barcelona (0-1) and after advancing in the Copa del Rey with a match that went to the extension against Talavera (2-4).

The Betic team will have to maintain the level to continue with the good dynamics of the last days, since they have four consecutive victories, with only two defeats, against Atlético and Sevilla, in the last nine games. The Chilean coach will not be able to count on the French Nabil Fekir, key in Pellegrini’s scheme, and Camarasa. Sabaly is doubtful due to a muscle injury.

For its part, Athletic Club needs to add the three points to get out of the bad situation in which it is immersed, its worst crisis of the season. And it is that the Basques have chained eight games without winning, with three defeats and five draws. In their last game they succumbed to Sevilla in San Mamés (0-1).

Those of Marcelino cling to the historical results against Betis, since, as a local, they have won the last eight direct confrontations between them. Regarding the absences, Iñigo Martínez and Unai Simón will be out due to coronavirus, and Dani García, Nolaskoain, Villalibre and Vivian will not be available due to injury.

On the other hand, Granada will host Mallorca at home. Robert Moreno’s men seem to have forgotten the complicated start in LaLiga after chaining three league games without losing to Athletic (2-2), Alavés (2-1) and Cádiz (1-1). Thus, a victory would consolidate the good moment of the Andalusian team and would take them away from the relegation places, without Machís and Rochina.

Mallorca faces this match with four points more than Granada, and arrives on a similar streak to its rival, linking three games without losing, after drawing 0-0 against Celta de Vigo. Luis García has the casualties of Greif, Hoppe, Raíllo and Junior, with an Ángel Rodríguez on a roll, since he has 3 goals and 3 assists in the last six games.

Also this Sunday Getafe and Osasuna will meet, with the ‘azulones’ in need of points to forget the pothole in which they are immersed, more after falling in the Copa del Rey 5-0 against Atlético Baleares. Those of Quique Sánchez Flores occupy the 19th place in the classification, three points from salvation, which Alavés marks after their defeat against Rayo Vallecano (2-0).

Although there have been signs of recovery, with only two losses in the last ten league games, enjoying a poor balance of only two wins and nine lost games, the team, together with Levante, with the most defeats in the championship.

Sánchez Flores also has the drawback of casualties, since Jaime Mata, Chema, Macías and Damián Suárez will not be due to injury. Osasuna enjoys a calmer situation, after his draw against FC Barcelona thanks to the goal of Chimy Ávila in the final minutes of the match. In addition, they beat Deportivo de la Coruña in the Cup (1-2), so they arrive with confidence, after five consecutive games without knowing defeat.

Although the Navarrese have not beaten Getafe at the Coliseum since 2008, this season they are the fifth best visitor in the League, with a good balance away with 4 wins and 2 draws in 8 games. However, they are the lowest scoring team in the upper half of the table (17) and have not won in any of their last eight visits to Madrid teams.

One of the most sensitive casualties for the duel in Getafe is that of David García, who is serving a penalty for accumulating yellow cards and who until now had played every minute with Osasuna.
