Benzema renounces the appeal in the ‘sextape’

The judicial procedure of Mathieu Valbuena and Karim Benzema known as ‘sextape’ has come to an end this Friday. According to information from Actu 98 y The Team, The striker has renounced the appeal that had to be answered at the end of June, for which he has complied with the conditional one-year prison sentence imposed by the Court of Versailles on November 24.

Benzema had been sentenced to one year in prison for a crime of attempted blackmail, in addition to a fine between €75,000 and €80,000, towards his former teammate, Mathieu Valbuena, who initiated legal proceedings in 2016 against the Real Madrid attacker.

Compliance with the sentence by Benzema supposes, in the words of the player’s defense, a judicial truth. The reality, as indicated by Hugues Vigier, his lawyer, is far from what the Court of Versailles ruled. “My client considered that this new hearing would not change anything and that he would not be judged as he should,” underlines to The Team.

Benzema was suspected of having pressured Mathieu Valbuena at a France concentration in 2015 to give in to blackmail for not broadcasting a sexual video that compromised the then French national team player. After several years of legal proceedings, the Court of Versailles ruled in favor of the Olympiacos midfielder on November 24, 2021.
