Benfica already has an agreement with Jorge Jesus

He Benfica has already reached an agreement for the return of the Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who will return to the Lisbon club five years after his departure, the local press advances.

Jesus, 65, would have agreed to train Benfica for the next three seasons and will travel to Lisbon this weekend to formalize the link with the “eagles”, who will only make it official later.

The Portuguese coach trains from 2019 to Flamengo Brazilian, with whom he won the cup Liberators and the Brazilian championship last year. But the team with which he has most added to his record is precisely Benfica, which trained between 2009 and 2015, and with whom he won three Leagues, a Portuguese Cup and five League Cups.

He also led the team to two finals in the Europa League, although without getting the trophy: in 2013 he lost 1-2 with Chelsea and in 2014 he fell on penalties against Sevilla.

Jesus left Benfica in 2015 to go to one of his biggest rivals, Sporting de Portugal, where he spent three seasons. He then headed for Saudi Al Hilal, and after a year made the jump to Flamengo. Jesus would come to Benfica to fill the gap left by the Portuguese Bruno Lage, who left the club at the end of June after several setbacks that took him away from the league title. Since then he has been in charge of the bench Nélson Veríssimo, who was part of Lage's technical team.

Benfica will play the final of the Portuguese Cup next August 1 against Porto, who was proclaimed league champion two days ago.
