BARCELONA, 21 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Belén García will participate in the 2023 edition of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the wheel of a Ligier in the LMP3 category prepared by the British team 360 Racing, thus reinforcing her commitment to resistance and to be able to reach the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

After debuting in resistance in October 2022, at the Portimao event of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, and competing with good results in the latest edition of the Asian Le Mans Series, the Catalan driver will focus entirely on the Michelin this year Le Mans Cup, a category that marked his debut in long-distance racing.

He won at Paul Ricard in the Ultimate Cup 2022 and fought for absolute podiums in the Asian Le Mans Series, already in this same 2023. Now, the challenge is to take a “decisive leap forward” in his career. “I feel, above all, happy to have a program in resistance, which was my main objective,” acknowledged Belén García in statements provided by his press team.

“I arrive at the Michelin Le Mans Cup determined to apply the many lessons I have learned from the Asian Le Mans Series, and I hope to be competitive in a very demanding event that visits six top-level circuits,” she said.

A decided bet, since along the way he said no to the F1 Academy, a new women’s competition under the umbrella of Formula 1. “It is true that I have had options to be on the grid of the F1 Academy, but I think that that is already It’s not my place. This championship is a great launching pad for younger girls starting out in motorsport, as evidenced by the fact that it is held in F4 single-seaters. But I already raced this type of car in 2019, and I think I have passed this phase,” he said.

Belén García will compete in the 2023 season of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the wheel of a Ligier JS P320 of the LMP3 category, a prototype that she already knows, since it is the same one with which she has competed in all her appearances in the world of endurance till the date.

The team changes, since the Spanish pilot will join the British 360 Racing team, which has outstanding experience in the European Le Mans Series and the Radical Masters contest.

The Michelin Le Mans Cup 2023 calendar will start on Tuesday, April 18 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which will host the previous collective tests and also the first two-hour event of the year on Saturday of that same week.

Imola will celebrate, just 15 days later, the second race, also lasting 120 minutes. The exception to the rule will come on June 8 and 9, when the Le Mans track will schedule a double date of 55 minutes of unit duration. Visits to Paul Ricard (July 15), Spa-Francorchamps (September 23) and Portimão (October 22) complete the campaign.
