Bayern Munich has had a more than successful 19-20 season. The Bavarians managed to win everything that was at stake: League, German Cup, Champions League and both Super Cups. In addition, this Friday they are publicly proud of their last two achievements, one in football, Robert Lewandowski's The Best and the other financial, with the publication of their accounts showing benefits in the midst of the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This Friday, Bayern published on its website its income statements in which it shows a net profit of 9.8 million euros. A more than outstanding fact taking into account the health and financial situation that exists both in Germany and worldwide.
Bayern income statement in 19-20 (from 1/7/2019 to 30/6/2020)
Sales revenue | € 698 M |
Operating income (EBITDA) | € 104.5 M |
Profit before tax | € 17 M |
Net profit | € 9.6 M |
The Bavarians present 698 million euros of income and an operating result (before interest and taxes) that rises to 104.5 million euros. The club also boasts that it is up to date with the German public treasury, which only entered 185.8 'kilos' this year.
In the income chapter, it is worth highlighting the transfers section where the club received 63.9 million euros in a campaign in which they sold Hummels for around 30 million to Dortmund, Renato Sanches for 20 million to Lille and Friedl for about 3.5, the first team being a great source of income in this section since this balance includes all the training sets, the first women's team, etc.
In expenses, investment in personnel costs is the most outstanding point with 314.8 million euros in addition to operating expenses, which exceed 200 million (242).
“It is a result with which FC Bayern can be satisfied in these difficult times,” says Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in a letter published alongside the accounts and the data supports the version. Bayern increased their income exponentially in the last decade, going from a positive 1.3 in 10-11 to their maximum last season: 52.9 million in net profit. Compared to the previous year, it represents a drop in net profit of 81.33% but in Bavaria they understand that, given the situation, a positive result is well worth a title.
