MADRID, 12 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Baskonia beat Zunder Palencia 94-82 this Tuesday, with an outstanding performance by the Nigerian power forward Chima Moneke for his 29 points, during an early match on matchday 15 in the Endesa League and where the Vitorians came back in the last quarter .

At the Fernando Buesa Arena, the visiting team dominated the score from 9-10 in the early stages and moved away as time went by. He achieved it, above all, thanks to the success of guard Chumi Ortega in the middle distance and power forward Greg Whittington inside.

At 1:45 before the break, the Palencia team had a favorable lead of 12 points (29-41). But in the second half of the duel, Markus Howard began to fuel, accurate from beyond the arc and well in harmony with Chima Moneke to keep Baskonia still alive.

Although a three-pointer scored by Brandon Brown made it 64-71 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Basque team regrouped to turn the situation around by capturing key rebounds and showing off accuracy on long-range shots. A 7-0 run equalized everything and Palencia collapsed in attack.

The victory placed the Vitoria club with a balance of 8-6, within the playoff positions. For his part, the pupils of the newly appointed Alberto Padilla suffered their 13th defeat in 14 league games, deepening their bottom status.
