Australian Ashleigh Barty, who retired from tennis in March while he was number 1 in the worldannounced this Sunday that will publish a series of children’s books during an exclusive interview with NewsCorp company media.
Barty, 25 years old and who at the end of January proclaimed himself Australian Open champion, will publish six children’s books under the title “Little Ash” inspired by his own experiences as a tennis star and his family.
The Australian athlete assured during the interview, published by Australian media such as Herald Sun and The Daily Telegraph, that She began writing inspired by her five-year-old niece, Lucy. “This project has been so much fun and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do (…) Lucy is my North Star. She has the perfect age to understand stories and plots and read chapter books,” Barty stated.
The books, co-written by Jasmin McGaughey and illustrated by Jade Goodwin, will go on sale July 6. The three-time Grand Slam winner announced her retirement on March 23, a decision she does not regret, she says. “I’ve spent so much time with my beautiful family and my nieces and nephew and you couldn’t wipe that smile off my face in the last few weeks,” she said, stressing that she made “the right decision.”
