The Barcelona basketball team will travel to China to play two pre-season games in September at the Qianjiang Century City International Basketball Summit 2024 against the Beijing Ducks and Bàsquet Girona, the Catalan team confirmed on Friday.
The Blaugrana team is expected to begin work for the new 2024-2025 season under the orders of its new coach, Joan Peñarroya, on Wednesday, August 21, the day on which he will undergo the corresponding medical examinations in Barcelona.
From there, training at the Palau Blaugrana until the 29th, when Barça will head to the Chinese town of Hangzhou, in the province of Zhejiang, to play against the Beijing Ducks, national champion, on Sunday, September 1, and Bàsquet Girona, the following day, both matches at the Hangzhou Olympic Center.
This is the second time that Barça will undertake a pre-season tour in the Asian country “to expand its brand and that of Catalonia and give greater visibility to European basketball,” according to the club. The previous time was in 2014, when it visited the towns of Hangzhou and Taipei.
The team will land in Barcelona on Thursday 5 September to continue preparations and focus on the first official competitions in a first month that will already be quite intense, starting with the Endesa Super Cup in Murcia on the weekend of 21-22 September.
